FLAVOR (3.5/5): Tried their salted egg shrimp and sirloin ramen noodles. The shrimp could have a strong salted egg yolk flavor but was fried really well! The ramen broth was rich and had lots of depth to it but didn't stand out to me with any of their other elements. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (5/5): From the drinks to the decorations to the interior of the restaurant everything was spot on so thoughtful! Beautiful place to dine. SERVICE (5/5): Did a walk in with our dog at around 11:30am on a Sunday and they were able to move some tables outside for us so we didn't have to wait. Lots of check ups on us and very tentative as they automatically charge 20% service charge on all bills. TAKEAWAYS: Cute fusion restaurant, food was decent but not mind blowing good.

My friend and I visited Bone Kettle on Sunday around noon and were seated immediately. The interior was very nicely decorated. You can also choose to sit on the outdoor patio. There is a 20% service charge for all dine-in transactions. We ordered a beef rendang omelette with a side of sautéed spinach and mushrooms, and the duck and pandan waffles. We really enjoyed the omelette. The beef rendang, which was a type of Indonesian braised beef, was very tender and flavorful. It blended in very well with the rest of the omelette. The side of spinach and mushrooms was very generous. Would definitely recommend this dish! The duck and pandan waffles seems to be the Asian fusion version of chicken and waffles, but I think the execution could be improved. The waffles had a strong pandan flavor but unfortunately they were very dry. The duck was well-flavored and the skin was crispy, but the meat was also on the drier side. I felt like the pork floss (chà bông) did not add to the dish. Overall the different components of the dish did not seem to mesh well together. Overall, this was a nice place to try out. The restaurant is located in Old Town Pasadena and is within walking distance of many other aesthetically pleasing eateries and boutique shops. I had a really good time walking around the area and window shopping afterward. I think this restaurant could make a great destination for an outting on a warm, clear day.

Came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was definitely a great dinner experience for the occasion. It was also dineLA so we decided to go with their special menu. It was $55/person. We ordered the following: -Kinilaw Na Scallops & Cold Peanut Noodles -Garlic Prawns & Lemongrass Beef Skewers -Indonesian Fried Rice w/Crab & Braised Oxtail, bone broth w/noodles -Nastar & Mango Sago Overall, it was very delicious and would probably order the same thing. The cold peanut noodles was packed with flavor but not so overwhelming that your breath seems like garlic. The garlic prawns was also juicy but wished there was more. The beef skewers weren't hard/meat was chewy and had a little bit of a kick. The fried rice & braised oxtail was the best. Each bite better than the previous. And the meat was tender. The dessert was my least favorite. Not a big fan of Nastar...a lot of flakes/dough that it was hard to swallow (felt like eating cinnamon). Mango sago wasn't too sweet but delightful. Atmosphere: very dark/calm. Not recommended for big groups unless you want to sit in the back, but again, might be a long wait. Service was great too. We ordered a cocktail and they provided free mocktails to celebrate our anniversary. Although the portions looked small, it was very fulfilling and loved the flavors of everything. I would recommend dineLA here :)

I have been to Bone Kettle many times, but finally getting around to giving them a well-deserved 5 star review. The restaurant setting is beautiful with bamboo wood tones, cozy yet not crowded, hushed restaurant noises. Upscale without feeling pretentious. Wait staff are friendly and easily found. I have ordered many vegetarian / vegan dishes by selecting easy mods. Despite having been there a few times, this visit was the first that I noticed they have a VEGAN version of their signature bone kettle noodle soup! Did I just miss this multiple times?? Nonetheless, the vegan noodle soup was hot, flavorful, and so healthy. Noodles were perfectly cooked. Our Bok Choy dish was well-seasoned, soft but still crunchy. Sangria was on the drier side without added sweetness, but it suited me fine. Still enjoyed it! Other dishes are a mix of Asian favorites from different countries. I love their creativity and execution. Located in Old Town, parking can be a bit challenging but not insurmountable. I have enjoyed each visit this far. Keep up the excellent service!

Came in with my friends for dinner and I was blown away. You can either park on the neighboring streets or the parking structures all around. It's a small place with seating both inside and outside. Our server was nice and made sure we had everything we need. This was the first time I ever tried Khao Soi and I will definitely come back for more. I added duck and I would say that it's not needed unless you really want more protein. The dish can really carry itself on its own.

I was able to make reservations via Yelp and I highly recommend it. Ube gnocchi - A lot of vinegar lime. It comes with pork belly which Filipinos love vinegar. If vinegar isn't your vibe you might not like it. Nasi goreng - This wasn't a bad dish, but not memorable for me. Rendang carbonara - I enjoyed this. The flavors where good. Ube brownie - Such unique flavors this was a must for me. The service was good here and the food was good. I'd love to come back for brunch and try their other menu items. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It's an old building so bathrooms are downstairs. If you need assistance it can be cumbersome to get there. DO NOT TIP! 20% is included in your bill.

A long wait at Osawa led us to try Bone Kettle next door. ISLAND RICE PLATE Garlic white rice, 2 eggs any style, longganisa, pan-fried spam, bacon, fried chicken wings, pickled green papaya and carrots Love the garlic rice! The meats were good, but I wish they had some greens like some avocado because it's a little heavy without greens. Best meat is the longganisa. DUCK & PANDAN WAFFLES Confit Duck, pork floss, condensed milk, duck egg It didn't taste like pandan at all, but the waffles were crispy! PRIME TOP SIRLOIN Bone Kettle's bone broth is made using time-honored cooking techniques and fresh, ingredients reflective of Southeast Asian traditions, made by boiling beef in filtered water with onions, garlic, ginger and a specific to Bone Kettle mix of dried spices, for 36 hours The broth was good, so I understand why it's their famous dish. Would order this again. I don't appreciate the 20% add on. Usually gratituty is added on with parties of 6 or more, but they do a 20% add on and a 10% add on no matter what. I'm all about supporting small businesses but, 20% is on the high side.
